Reported by: Meredith Wood Videographer: Trevor Anderson Web Producer: Dick Canter June 1, 2007
Fifty-two-year-old Richard Filbin of St Albans is charged with allegedly filming female massage clients as they undressed. Court records say Filbin filmed women at his business, 'Body and Soul Massage Therapy' in Cross Lanes, and at his house in St Albans. The tapes reportedly took place between 2001 and 2006. Elaine Moore has lived next to Filbin for nearly 20 years. She's always thought of him as a good neighbor, but says his alleged activities aren't surprising. Elaine Moore, neighbor: "There's been rumors for years, at least 15 years, that there's been some things going on." However, many people in the area say they're shocked. Melissa Hamrick, Nitro: "Secretly video taped them while they were ubdressing before a massage? That's interesting." Hamrick isn't a victim, but she says she'd definitely press charges if she had been. Melissa Hamrick: "I would be severely offended." After hearing about the Filbin case, many women now say they'll be more suspicious in the future. Judy Parsons, Nitro: "Most of the time, it's not a concern to me, although there are times I think about things I've seen on TV having cameras and wondering." Moore is disappointed to hear about Filbin's 114 charges, but she's glad she never took him up on his offer of a massage. The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department still asks anyone who thinks they may have been a victim to contact them. Filbin faces up to 100 years in prison. Meredith Wood reporting.
